AUTUMN TERM NEWSLETTER 2009
Dear Parents
Welcome back to the new school year. I hope you all had a good holiday, in spite of the weather. We’ve got another busy year ahead of us and will be building on the success of the Inspection.
Every year, we decide on the ways in which we want to go forward. This is the School Improvement Plan. This year the main points of the plan involve:
• Reading
• Spelling
• Thinking Skills: using TASC
• Bilingualism: extending the children’s use of Welsh
• Investors in Families
There will more information on all these aspects in the coming months and I know that you will continue to support your children to ensure their continuing progress.
I am very pleased to welcome Mrs. Sharon Pascoe to the school in her role as Deputy Headteacher. A former pupil of Heolddu, Mrs. Pascoe knows our community well. She will be meeting you all during the course of the term.
We want to continue to involve the wider school community once again this year through such activities as the Cooking Classroom and Computer Club. We are also fortunate that the Heolddu cluster has been selected to participate in the Investors in Families initiative. This promises to be an exciting new venture: more information on this to follow.
