Dear Parents,
The Spring Term is well underway and Christmas a distant memory by now. We’ve got lots going on, as usual, both in and outside the classroom.
The children are enjoying using the website Purple Mash to do their homework and you can find out more about this program from Mr. Timbrell by coming to the Junior Hall at 3.20pm on Thursday 19th January. We will arrange to supervise your children for the duration of the meeting which should last about 30 minutes.
If you haven’t got access to the internet, we’d be grateful if you’d let the class teacher know so that we can make sure your child has the opportunity to complete their homework in school.
We’d also like to know if you would prefer to obtain news and information by referring to the school website rather than having paper copies sent home. Please indicate which you would prefer by completing the slip at the end of this letter. This would certainly save a great deal of paper and photocopying costs which would make the children very happy as they are all such keen ‘recyclers’. In fact, the children on the Eco Committee and Mrs. Salmon are working extremely hard at the moment as we prepare for our Platinum Award. We hope to achieve this before the end of term.
We hope you will be interested in a range of Community Clubs that will be available this term (further details to follow). In the meantime, the Community ICT Club will begin on Wednesday 25th January. .
Children and their families can continue to enjoy producing a range of delicious food in the Community Cookery Club which also takes place on Wednesdays after school. Year 6 children and their families will have priority this half term: details to follow.
We like you to have the chance to work alongside your children so that you can gain an insight into the way they learn in English and maths, so you are invited to attend one of the sessions on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th March (morning session only).
As you know, improving the children’s reading is our priority this year. This is essential if the children are to access the curriculum now and in the future. Please listen to your child read at home on a regular basis, as this has been proved to make a real difference to their rate of progress.
